Zolotyi Dukat is a stylish underground coffee house that’s popular among Lviv’s coffee lovers, where you can choose from more than 40 sorts of fresh coffee.
Zolotyi Dukat is located in Lviv’s center on the corner of Ivana Fedorova and Rus’ka Streets, steps from Rynok Square. The cafe can be a little easy to miss and you’ll need to descend a few steep steps to enter it.
Zolotyi Dukat is quite small and its stylish dimly-lit interior is packed with creative motifs, such as scaled reproductions of Lviv’s streets and forged hieroglyphs on the walls.
Zolotyi Dukat observes a local tradition known as freshkava (“fresh coffee”) and a you can watch the whole process right after you order. The cafe’s “coffee map” menu is not “user-friendly”, so be prepared to ask your server for help navigating it. At Zolotyi Ducat you can try “the oldest coffee in the world” Mocha Yemen Matari or “the sweetest” one – Yellow Bourbon; the house specialty “Ducat’s Gold” can also be a good option. Other specialties include delicious hot black and white chocolate (try “Hot Resin”) and traditional Ukrainian sweets called martsypany.
