Overview
Zolochivsky Castle was initially built in the 17th century as a fortified citadel (the pentagonal fortifications at each of its corners are still hard to miss). The castle is often part of a three-castle tour of Lviv Region called "Ukraine's Golden Horseshoe." Zolochivsky’s grounds include the main castle (also known as “the grand palace”) and the Chinese Palace. The latter has little to do with China and it’s said that Polish King Jan III Sobieski built the Chinese Palace to express his love for his wife Marysieńka. Many tales are told about Zolochivsky Castle – whispers about secrets of the Templars and ghosts in its underground tunnels.
