The Church of St. Olha and St. Elizabeth is Lviv’s only Neo-Gothic building. If you arrive by train you can’t miss its imposing spires that are visible from Lviv’s Central Railway Station. An observation deck in the church’s spire is schedule to open in the spring/summer of 2013.

Also known as Saint Yuriy’s Church, this great example of rococo architecture was built between 1744-1760 on a hill overlooking Lviv. The cathedral is adorned by sculptures of Johann Pinzel, who is often called Ukraine’s Michelangelo. The cathedral is most famous for its bell, the oldest one in Ukraine and one that dates back to 1341.

The Organ and Chamber Music Hall was founded in 1960 in the former church and monastery of St. Magdalena, a beautiful 17th-century building. The music hall’s magnificent organ by Czech manufacturer Rieger-Kloss is the largest organ in Ukraine. The Organ and Chamber Music Concert Hall is located a bit outside Lviv’s center, close to Polytechnic University and across the street from Seven Piggies restaurant.

The Latin Cathedral was originally founded in the 14th century, but since then it has undergone many changes, which reflect different eras and architectural styles including Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque. This small shrine was built in the first half of the 17th century and served as a tomb for the Boim, a prominent merchant family. Dark ornate stone sculptures cover the entire facade of the chapel’s western wall, including a magnificent depiction of the “Pieta.” The Boim Chapel sits on Katedral’na Street just off Rynok Square and a short walk from main avenue Prospect Svobody.

The Armenian Cathedral is one of the oldest and most significant buildings in Lviv. It was commissioned by an Armenian merchant in the 14th century from the port city of Kaffa. It’s believed that the cathedral was modeled after the Cathedral of Ani in Armenia’s ancient capital. The Armenian Cathedral sits in Lviv’s center on historic Virmens'ka Street, steps from Rynok Square.
